1. What is QuietSeal Pro?QuietSeal Pro is an acoustical caulking engineered to maintain high acoustic performance in interior construction.
2. Where do I use QuietSeal Pro?Apply QuietSeal Pro around the perimeter of the walls, ceilings, floors, penetrations, and any wallboard seam that is not backed by a stud.
3. How do I apply QuietSeal Pro?QuietSeal Pro is very easy to use – applied with a caulking gun just like standard latex caulking. See installation instructions for details.
4. How do I open the QuietSeal Pro tube?Simply cut the tip off of the tube and the tip off of the nozzle approximately 1/4'” to 3/8” in diameter, screw the nozzle onto the tube and insert into a standard caulking gun.
5. Can I use any acoustical caulking?QuietSeal Pro is designed and engineered to maintain acoustic performance in the QuietRock Soundproofing System, and is recommended to be used in any QuietRock project.
6. What is the difference between QuietSeal Pro and other sealants?QuietSeal Pro’s special formula is designed to stay soft and resistant and will not crack or shrink, preventing noise leakage.
7. What is the difference between QuietSeal and QuietSeal Pro?QuietSeal Pro is paintable, lower in VOCs, lower odor and easier to apply and clean up.
8. Can I use QuietSeal Pro for other applications, where I am not using QuietRock?Yes, we recommend the complete QuietRock Soundproofing System for maximum acoustic performance, but QuietSeal Pro can be used in any indoor application to stop noise leaks.
9. How long does it take for QuietSeal Pro to dry?QuietSeal Pro is formulated to stay moist (hence resilient). Effectively, it never dries. Other acoustical sealants that become hard over time and can short-circuit a wall or ceiling
10. How much QuietSeal Pro do I need?A 28 oz tube of QuietSeal Pro applied using ¼” bead covers about 86 lineal feet. Another way to look at it is a typical properly sealed installation requires 1 tube for every 8 linear feet of wall.
11. Is QuietSeal Pro safe?Yes, QuietSeal Pro is environmentally friendly - water-based, low VOC and low odor making it very safe to use.
12. Which test standards apply to Quietseal Pro? QuietSeal Pro has been tested for and exceeds the specifications listed by ASTM C834 for Type O class -18C Latex sealant(Standard test for latex sealants) and achieved a class A rating per ASTM E84 (Surface burning characteristics/flame spread test ).
